Analysis of extracellular matter that can affect the rheology of algae slurries. Measured carbon and nitrogen (mg/g of supernatant) in the supernatant of harvested (circles), incubated (diamonds) and HPH ruptured slurries (squares) as a function of solids concentration. A single experimental run was carried out for the slurries (Batch 1) due to limited sample availability, whereas triplicate (3 runs from the same batch) experiments were carried out for a new batch of slurries (Batch 2). The data from both the batches show similar trends
